Apparently, Google has a bug where if you click on link, attempt to sign in, you get an error message. The following instructions resolved the problem. Just in case you hear anyone else having a similiar problem.
"The issue is a cookie sharing problem between gmail and blogger. Here is the usable solution: 1: Sign in to gmail account where the invitation was e-mailed to. Do NOT click on link yet. 2: Navigate to "www.blogger.com" by typing in URL bar. This will set the Blogger cookie to say you are signed correctly. 3: Navigate back to "www.gmail.com" by typing in URL bar. 4: Open e-mail with invitation link, and click on link. 5: You must enter your account password for verification purposes, and then hit enter 6: Hey presto! It works?
P.S. If it doesn't work, clear all the cookies manually and follow the same directions. "
